The females of Enneacampus ansorgii lay their large eggs in the brood pouch of the males. After c. 6 weeks, the 1cm long, hair thin babies emerge. They immediatey start feeding on the smallest shrimps and copepods.
The Indostomidae (Armoured Sticklebacks) from Burma and Thailand, are known to few. Looking a little like small pipefish, their maximum size is 4 cm. They are active hunters and will search out small shrimp and insects. Eggs are laid in a protected place and are guarded by the males.
